Redirect Rings: How to use
Tool 04 · Redirect Rings
Give the urge
a job.
Your balm is still your go-to replacement. But some moments make balm hard: hands on the wheel, typing, a phone in your hand, a handshake in a meeting. That's what the ring is for. Same redirect, no grease, always on your finger.
Set-up takes 60 seconds. Here's everything you need.
Balm or ring?
Two ways to redirect.
Use whichever fits the moment.
Reach for the balm
- At home and in the evening
- Desk breaks and downtime
- Before bed
- When your hands feel dry or rough
Spin the ring
- Driving, when you can't apply balm
- Meetings and handshakes
- Typing, gaming, phone in hand
- Out and about, when greasy hands aren't an option
How it works
Feel it. Spin it. Tick it.
Three moves. Every time.
-
01Feel it
Notice the urge. Your hand drifting to your mouth, your thumb finding a cuticle. Catching it is the win.
-
02Spin it
Thumb on the ring, not the skin. Keep spinning until the urge fades. It usually passes quicker than you think.
-
03Tick it
Spun instead of picked? That's a tick on your tracker. Every tick is proof the new loop is taking over.
Find your fit
Start with M.
60 seconds. No guessing.
- Put M on the finger you pick most. Thumb picker? Wear it on your index finger, where your thumb can reach.
- Slides off? Go S. Too tight to spin? Go L.
- Stays put and spins freely: that's your size. Keep the other two as spares.
Keep the spares close
Wear it where you pick.
The tool works best within reach.
Desk
Typing and calls. No greasy keyboard. Leave one by the laptop.
Car
You can't apply balm at the wheel. Keep one in the door pocket.
Sofa
Phone in hand, scrolling. One on the side table.
Part of the system
Balm first. Ring when balm won't work.
- Hand Repair BalmYour main replacement. Apply it when the urge hits, and it keeps cuticles soft so there's less to snag on.
- Redirect RingsThe backup for when balm isn't practical: driving, meetings, typing.
